The "Slow & Say Hello!" campaign is part of a regional safety initiative to reduce multimodal conflicts and increase safe travel behaviors on our pathways.

Slow & Say Hello! is a unified, simple, friendly, community-oriented campaign with one goal: to make every journey across our region safer and more enjoyable for everyone who takes it.
The campaign is built on three commitments:
- Reduce multimodal conflicts and increase safe travel behaviors on our pathways.
- Messaging works across all user types, environments, and jurisdictions, regardless of differing local regulations.
- Incorporate empathy, putting the user in the other user's shoes.
How The Campaign started
"Slow & Say Hello!" was primarily drawn from a trail safety campaign, originally designed by the
Trail Partners of Marin County, California, and later adapted to incorporate concepts from local multimodal campaigns to reflect regional sentiment.
A regional campaign project team identified six safety messaging themes that would resonate and apply to each various multimodal user groups. The theme names are consistent across all groups; what changes is how each user group practices them.
"Slow & Say Hello!" messages are designed to be jurisdiction-neutral (applicable regardless of local speed limits, leash laws, or e-bike regulations) and can be used verbatim or adapted for collateral and/or local regulations.
